That the sun rises in the east and sets in the west is obviously a fact… just as – another fact – that in Rimini the sun rises over the sea and sets upstream. Nothing to object to, of course. Yet in the land where – to quote a motto of one of its illustrious sons – Federico Fellini – everything is imagined, perhaps even the obvious is subject to exception. And so, on a late sunny afternoon, it is enough to take a pleasant walk to San Giuliano a Mare, past the fishing boats and boats along the canal port to the new dock, to discover what we never expected: a fiery sunset seemingly over the sea! Obviously this is a pleasant illusion, a visual trick due to the view over the gulf between Rimini and Cesenatico, which almost makes it seem as if the sun is setting over the sea.
