Known as the Church of St Clare, it stands near the Augustus Arch and was erected in the 14th century by Clarisse nuns.
The church houses the image of Madonna della Misericordia, the work of Giuseppe Soleri Brancaleoni (1750-1806), who donated it to his sister, Sister Chiara.
The church has been the destination of continuous pilgrimages and an occasion for prayer since the miraculous image of Madonna della Misericordia is said to have moved its eyes in 1850. Since then, the 12th of every month is a special day to commemorate the miracle.
