Borgo San Giuliano, connected to the city by the two thousand year old Tiberius Bridge, is today one of the most popular places for tourists and locals in Rimini. The small district, inhabited in the past by fishing families, is today rich in shops, wine bars and typical restaurants, offering visitors an exciting immersion in the most typical lifestyle in Rimini.
Noteworthy is a visit to the beautiful Renaissance church of San Giuliano and the labyrinth of streets that conceal picturesque and characteristic murals dedicated to Federico Fellini. Pastel colours, dreamy atmospheres, façades with landscapes and characters from the neighbourhood: the borough’s identity is unique and it is this that enchants and fascinates visitors.
The tradition of decorating the borough’s houses began in 1980 with the second edition of the Festa De’ Borg: the first murals came to life on the walls, depicting its inhabitants and the landscapes of the port and the sea, protagonists of the borghigiani’s lives.
In 1994, with the death of Federico Fellini, the decorations were entirely dedicated to the film director. On this occasion painters from Rimini and elsewhere portray scenes from his most famous films and his unforgettable characters.
