Would you like to discover the Malatesta Temple, its history and all its mysteries with us? Then you cannot miss our fascinating Rimini City Tour, all about this authentic jewel of the Italian Renaissance!
Commissioned by Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta and the first architectural work of Leon Battista Alberti, begun in 1447, the Temple represents a great manifesto of Renaissance architecture, even in its incompleteness.
Together we will discover the treasures that this Temple holds inside: the Chapel of the Angels (or of Isotta), which contains the sepulchral ark of Sigismondo's wife, Isotta, Giotto's Crucifix, painted on wood and belonging to the Church of San Francesco, on which the Temple was built around. And again, Piero della Francesca's fresco, painted in 1451 and depicting Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta genuflecting before Saint Sigismondo, his sepulchre located to the right of the entrance and the Arch of the Ancestors, where Sigismondo wanted to place the bones of his ancestors and descendants.
