The opera season opens with the diptych Cavalleria Rusticana by Pietro Mascagni and Pagliacci by Ruggero Leoncavallo, two masterpieces of Italian verismo, presented in a new production in an international co-production between the theatres of Rimini, Modena, Piacenza and the Sofia Opera.

Directed by Plamen Kartaloff, with sets by Giacomo Andrico and a cast of prestigious singers, including Teresa Romano and Daniela Schillaci, the opera will be conducted by Aldo Sisillo with the Orchestra dell’Emilia-Romagna Arturo Toscanini.
