E’ caval dla Paranghela is a small but wonderful marble bas-relief depicting a horseman on horseback set in one of the houses in Borgo San Giuliano along Viale Tiberio. Although it has been set in the Borgo San Giuliano since time immemorial (it seems that the metope was in place even before the more recent construction that now houses it, and which dates back only to the early 1800s), the artwork undoubtedly comes from the sarcophagus of some late Roman burial ground in the necropolis that must have stood on the site in ancient times. The tile that can still be admired on the façade of the house that today houses the historic Trattoria della Marianna is proof of the ancient origins of this picturesque village that overlooks the route of the ancient Via Emilia just a few steps from the Tiberius Bridge.
