In Piazza Tre Martiri, formerly the ancient Roman forum of Ariminum, in the heart of the city, stands the statue of the great commander Julius Caesar, who chose Rimini as his military base after crossing the Rubicon river (49 B.C.) and uttering the historic phrase Alea iacta est (The die is cast).
The consul is represented by a bronze statue, a copy of a Roman marble original.
