Rimini all year round

La palata

La palata is the term by which all the people of Rimini call the last stretch of the port. It is the completely pedestrianised path that goes from Piazzale Boscovich to the top of the pier with the famous nautofono, which on foggy days reaches almost the entire city with its unmistakable sound.

The promenade is one of our places of the soul, in every season: in addition to its intrinsic beauty, worthy of note are the still-existing outrigger structures testifying to this type of fishing and, at the tip of the jetty, near the lighthouse, the poetic monument La sposa del marinaio (The sailor’s bride) by the sculptor Umberto Corsucci, dedicated to the wives awaiting the return from sea of their men engaged in fishing.

La palata is a place in the city where you can breathe in the most authentic Fellini: a promenade much loved by the Rimini director, where images from I Vitelloni or the shenanigans of Scureza (the motorcyclist in Amarcord) or the sound of the engines of the small boats that hasten to sea to catch a glimpse of the legendary Rex come to mind.
